The Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization based in Washington, DC. The coalition consists of more than 100 national organizations and a network of 51 independent, affiliated state coalitions that share a commitment to advancing youth financial literacy.
Since 2009, Jump$tart has hosted a National Educator’s Conference (NEC) which is the nation’s premier professional development event for students from Pre-kindergarten through grade 12 teachers dedicated to financial education in the classroom. Through the generosity of our membership in 2025, the AFDICA sponsored eight teachers with a fully covered cost of $1500 each, to attend this conference. The conference offers tools and information teachers can use in their classrooms upon their return to their schools. The conference also provides an opportunity for Jump$tart partners, such as the AFDICA to share their resources and expertise with the educator
At the recent NEC opening reception and dinner in Boston, Massachusetts, Mindy West, Vice President of Charitable Services, represe the AFDICA. Reflecting on the event, Mindy described the experience as truly inspiring. She shared, “To be sitting in a room full of 400 educators from all over the U.S., and to have conversations at every table focused on financial education, was truly amazing.” Mindy shared that the energy in the room was electric, as teachers from across the nation exchanged ideas and stories, united by their passion for empowering students, at all ages, through financial education. The educators mentioned at every turn, how grateful they were to their scholarship sponsors to enable them to collaborate and learn from each other and sponsors the latest methodology and effective financial learning tools.
