Larry Choates - Director At Large 

Larry Choates worked for the FDIC from 1996 until 2016 as a Senior Management Analyst in the Division of Finance. Larry also worked at the Resolution Trust Corporation from 1991 until 1996 as an Internal Audit Manager.

Prior to working for the FDIC, Larry was an Audit Manager at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Larry received the OPM Director’s Award for Superior Accomplishment for saving the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program millions of dollars.

Larry volunteers at the Koinonia Foundation in Franconia, Virginia. The Koinonia Foundation is a faith-based organization, called to support adults and children in the Franconia/Kingstowne area. Koinonia helps to meet challenges of daily living by providing food, clothing, learning and emergency financial assistance to qualified residents regardless of beliefs. Koinonia is the sole nonprofit organization recognized by Fairfax County to provide both short-term emergency assistance and self-sufficiency services to citizens of the Franconia/Kingstowne area.

Larry was a Volunteer Instructor for the Institute of Internal Auditors for 11 years. Larry provided formal instruction in auditing, risk management, and internal control to employees from various corporations in the United States and other countries.

Larry received a Bachelor Degree in Accounting from Morris Brown College. Larry is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor.
